Brenda hails from Cookstown in Co. Tyrone, but was born in
Later she worked as a young girl in the cloak room in ‘Clubland’ Cookstown. There she spotted all the biggest showbands frequenting her father’s ballroom ‘Clubland’ in Cookstown. She regularly was asked onto the stage with the big names and loved the whole atmosphere of the music and performing.
Soon after she joined a band at just 15 years old and travelled the length and breadth of the country and loved it all. She was then asked to front a rock and roll band called ‘Brenda Pat & The Teddy Bears’. She fondly recalls this as being a fantastic experience and so the seeds were sown for her future in the music industry.
She then fronted Brian Colls ‘Buckaroos’ when Brian took ill and recorded a CD and then a tape of All Irish Songs that ‘Outlet Records’ were glad to promote.
Brenda then went on to do T.V. with the BBC, where the late Tony McAuley couldn’t believe the quality of her voice.
One day, whilst working as a bar maid in his fathers pub, The Cartwheel, in Cookstown she was surprised by “IRELANDS SEARCH FOR A STAR” where she performed on stage live in front of 10 million people and was critiqued by big named stars such as Barbara Winsor, who thought Brenda had a amazing voice and was a natural born performer.
Then again, Brenda started her own 2 piece called ‘Crescendo!!’ where they were in demand seven nights a week. The dates flowed in! She then took a well deserved break for a few years when she then started a new 2 piece with Ian McIvor and is still working all over the country recording CD’s and has started writing her own material. She then went to an interview with the celebrity Jane McDonald and won the heart of the nation.
Still playing and writing material, she recently joined www.allcountry.co.uk Music management and has recorded a beautiful new album called ‘TIME’ , which is available online at www.allcountry.co.uk
